The only time I really have had a short hair cut was when I was little. Right now I have medium to long hair and I am actually considering trying out a shorter cut. I would love to try it and see how it looks. But I also am scared of how it could turn out badly and then how long it would take to grow out. And I don't feel like waiting. I have a hair appointment tomorrow and I want something new.

well, i don't really know how short you're going for, but try this:

make a very loose pony tail at the base of your neck. start out with about four inches of hair between your head and the hair band. (if your hair's shorter, maybe leave a little bit less room, or if you think that you'd want your hair cut a little longer, leave a little bit more room.) then, pull the entire pony tail up so the slack folds. it's kinda hard to explain, but your hair just kinda folds and it looks like you have a shorter hair cut. by pulling the hair band away from your scalp, it makes your hair look longer and by pushing it closer, it makes your hair looks shorter when you bend it.

Basically, it depends on the hair and the style. I think that in general, heavier women look better with shorter hair. A chin length bob is usually most flattering. Anything longer looks frumpy and anything shorter makes the face look wide.

if i were you i would start looking at pictures of actresses or models in magazines or even on the internet and find a hairstyle that interests you. anytime i feel like changing my hair that's what i do. then you could take the picture you like the best to your hairstylist and usually they can get something pretty close to what you wanted. no matter what you pick, i recommend you choose a hairstyle that has layers in it. I also have long thick hair and i have to say i'll never get a haircut without layers; it makes your hair look a lot better than if it was all one length. and i definitely understand your pain when it comes to straightening it. not only is my hair long and thick but it's curly too but i find that blowdrying it with a large round brush saves a lot of time especially since most of the time it looks good without having to use a straightener. and it only takes me about 20 minutes.

That's wonderful! I have sleak, jet black hair, that goes down and past my ankles. I put it in a bun most of the time, sometimes in a ponytail. I braid it rarely, soometimes in more than 25 braids! i have very curly hair that i wear in a '20's style bob with purple streaks...i'd suggest choppy layers that will take out some of the bulk curly hair tends to gain when it gets longer %26amp; will also give you something of an alternative look or an asymmetrical cut that would utilize the texture of your hair rather than fighting against it like most scene looks would (curly hair is no good with a side-swept bang). also, you could check out hairstyles from the '20's %26amp; '30's, since curly/wavy haired looks were popular then %26amp; the styles look very unique compared to most modern looks.

No, but right after I got off the bus and off the yellow footprints at Parris Island waaaay back when, I was given my gas mask size and they wrote my platoon number on my hand and told me to stand in another line.

That line was to the barbershop, if you want to call it that. An old guy, kinda grumpy, asked, do you have any moles or scars on your head? No, I replied, then, in my head I was thinking, hell, I don't know, who knows that unless they have been shaved bald before! So, I sat there in angst waiting for this guy to find the mole that surely would explode in a bloody mess all over the floor, thankfully there were none. But my imagination is very good, so I clearly saw in my head what that would look like.

The DI would be screaming at me for not telling this guy I had a mole on my scalp, I would sit there and bleed as the other guys mocked me, and I would forever be known to the DIs from day one as Bloody Moron. Heh

But, no, I have never cried after a haircut, and since I didn't cry after that one, I probably never will, unless some dolt chops off my ear or something. Heh.

Yes I know how it feels to get a bad haircut. When I was in fifth grade my stepmother gave me this horrible haircut that was difficult to grow out. Kids made fun of me for years. I'm 26 and I dont know if I'm over it. Talk to people in your area and ask about a good stylist. Explain to the stylist that you want them to do as you say and not what they want to do. Go buy a couple of hairstyle magazines and really look for what you want. Make note of the specifics - I like these bangs, or I like the way the back of this cut is funky - then take the pictures to your hairstylist and discuss what you're after. A good stylist will let you know HONESTLY whether or not your hair will actually DO what is in the picture, and she may tell you that she can do a similar cut but frame your face in such a way that it'll look softer, etc.

Education is ALWAYS the key - do the research ahead of time rather than sitting down in a chair and saying "cut it off".

I don't know about going from curly to straight hair, but I do know that as a young child I had stick straight hair, until I was about 12. I started out with longer straight hair, then I cut it to shoulder length, then I cut it really short, like a boy's haircut. I let it grow after that, and put layers in it, and ever since then I have curly hair. Even growing it longer hasn't helped make it straight again. I did the same thing! I was puzzled for a few weeks, then I found that I could do stuff with my short hair that I couldn't with long hair! Throwing it up in a ponytail suddenly looked less 4th grade and more hip (more comfy too, without the hair swinging around.) I also loved headbands, and just pulling some of it back with a clip. The other great thing about short hair is that if you have straight hair, you can curl it now without the curls getting weighed down. Try curling it and then pulling some back with a clip. Enjoy!

You have to experiment what looks good on you but try putting it in a pony tail, half back, different trypes of buns, using different clips, head bands. Go to claires or iceing and you will find all the hair stuff you will need =].

Lemon Juice does not make you hair lighter i doesn't do much but make it less greasy, once you wash it. Don't worry I did the exact same thing, but here is what you can do. I read in a magazine the you can spray chaminolle tea in your hair. First mix it in with some water and heat in the microwave for 20 seconds. Then let it cool because you don't want it to go on you scapl hot. (I do not want you to get burnt) Then put it in a spray bottle or just poor it on ur hair. Sit in the sun for about 20 minutes a little more if your hair is thicker. And then rinse it out. You hair should be lighter withen a day and if you have any natural highlights it works REALLY well. Its thick and it gets really poofy and when i put a hat on it curly over the hat. It really makes me look like a freak... when i cut it i dont like it very much .. So idk what to do . I dont want it short. Some people said layer it and i never tried before so idk what its gonna look like. Any suggestion? :D

i woudn't layer it too much. layers cause your hair to curl up

more, it takes the weight away so the hair is more bouncy which looks poofy. if u must layer, which i really don't recommend, do long layers and wear some gel or some biosilk will help with the frizz. write back if u need more help, good luck!

I'd say go get a really good straightening iron from a good beauty store/salon. My friend's hair is super duper poofy because she's tamil. And she got this great straightening iron for about 200 bucks. Now her hair could be as straight as mine (i'm asian so i have really straight hair) when she straightens it.

what you can do is to use mouse and put it all over your hair just to brighten your hair colour and to make it appear as shinier.

Hi it all depends on what type of salon you go to some charge more than others. I know for me when I had long thick hair the hairdresser I went to said it would cost between 40 and 60 pound. and another hairdresser said that she would dye my hair for 30 and when my mum went to the same hairdresser she charge my mum 35 5 for the cut and 30 for the highlights, so they must charge the same no matter weather they are colouring or highlighting. Just make sure they do it right as now adays hairdressers wont sort it out for you again if they mess it up, you have to still pay as they just did as you asked, what I mean is if you hair is already coloured a dark colour, then some salons wont even touch it as the colour wont take and you will end up with patchy bits of orange and blonde, but other just do it at your own risk and tell you that its how you wanted it and if you want it redying then you have to pay for that also.

Im not saying it will happen to you its just a warning.

I also think that someplace will charge up to 100 pound to have it done but they might actually do it right.

oh wow this happened to me not too long ago, and what i did was straighten it, and put it in a pony tail on really bad hair days. btw NO ONE BUT YOU THINKS IT LOOKS THAT BAD! remember that..even my mom who said dont get sort hair admitted she thought it was cute. also you can sometimes goo backand get afree fixer hair cut but i wouldnt-embarrasing! I love my full bangs but when they're longer than my eyebrows they clump together and it looks like my hair's oily (when it isn't), and when they're above my eyebrows or level with them it looks like my eyebrows stand out too much since I have dark hair. Also, the rest of my hair seems to cling to my face and kinda frame it and it looks too shaggy.

i have the same problem my hair is long almost to my but and straight but this is what looks the best take some pieces from the from either swoop them curl them or let them hang on the side of your cheecks and for the back put it half up and half down with a part on the side and the part that you don't have up get a curling iron and curl the tips alos the part that you have up

I had hair down to my butt too but about a month ago I got it really layered, and I love it! I didn't really lose length at the very bottom, but I did get lots of layers put in and especially around my face (before that I had it all one length). I have very thick hair and now it is so much lighter. I also find I can play around with it more and it looks really good. Before I got it cut I would either straighten it or put in hot rollers, and I think it looked nice but it sure was boring. I still use the straightener some days or the hot rollers other, but my hair has a lot more style to it when I do. I think my hair is more fun now and sexy too and I enjoy it a lot more. My co-workers say that now I look like a goddess!

mine are swept to the side too and i keep them over by just blow-drying them that way, and sometimes putting in a tiny bit of pomade to keep them there.

I would get long bangs they are easier to hide if you decide that you do not want to commit to shorter ones. You can always go shorter if you want. It is harder to go the other way.

i think side bangs look good on everyone if they are done right. ask your stylist what would be best for your face shape and keep them pretty long at first just in case you dont like em.

If you have an oval face you are a very lucky person as you can get away with pretty much any hairstyle. A bob would be nice and easy to maintain depending on what length you are after. A layered bob is usually more flattering as you can tell your hairdresser if you want face framing layers to accentuate the features you like best and it also gives you more volume as hair flat against the face is unflatering to any but the perfectly symmetrical. A razor cut bob is highly fashionable at the moment but avoid going to the extremes of someonelike Victoria Beckham unless you want to have to get a trim every 2 weeks.

well, if you straighten it and want to keep straightening it to maintain a hairstyle that keeps you happy, i say go for it. its only hair, and it grows back if you cut it, and if you dye it, it'll come out eventually. if you really want emo hair, you should go for it.
